LATELY I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT REVOLUTIONS
For the Bihari cuisine Wikipedia page and my Nana
Lately I’ve been avoiding my future as a mango-lover & choosing
to focus on myself, by which I mean I’ve been thinking about
revolutions. The speed of a vinyl is 33.3 revolutions per minute
which needs to be converted into radians per second to find the
angular speed. The speed of the Earth is 1 revolution per year
which means there is one year left until I grow up & away.
There are plans being made by people who look in the mirror &
don’t see me looking back. I like some of them. On my 17th, I
think I’ll ask Mummy to make pitha. Maybe she’ll make litti with
my favorite achar. Maybe the test results will come back better so
I can soak them in oil. I’m allergic to ghee. That was the first mistake
made in my redemption. Kendrick Lamar was born in an immaculate
conception according to DNA. but I was born early during teatime.
My favorite plan is that one day, Nana and I will open up a litti stand
in New Jersey. The thing is, I’ve never met another American who
slurps sattu in the winter. Ripe bananas aren’t smushed into their pua. I
brought thekua to school once & nobody knew what it was. So, maybe
the only people who would come to our stall would be white people
looking for a kick of something exotic sold by an old man and a barely
adult speaking the right amount of English. We could still make a profit
But back to revolutions, by which I mean Escherichia Coli’s flagellum has
a speed of 16,200 revolutions per minute. Can you imagine how fast that
is? Probably not, because you are data turned mother, binary turned all
the stories I was too young to hear last time I sat next to Nana. Thank you
for raising me among the revolutions that run in my body. I know
you can’t feel this, but I’m kissing my mousepad in tribute. I have always
hated nebulous things. You are the one constant in my teenage life
